Aim and Background: This research was carried out to detect the direct and indirect effects of positive and negative aspects of self-esteem (self-value and self-devaluation) through job burnout on mental health. Method: The statistical population consisted of all women teachers in Shadegan province, from among which one hundred and twenty subjects were selected via stratified random method. The three measures of Rosenberg self-esteem (Rosenberg, 1966), job burnout (Maslach (1981) and general health questionnaire (Goldberg and Hiller, 1979) were used for data collection. Structural equation modelling was applied to explore the relationship between positive and negative aspects of self-esteem as two independents variables, the three aspects of job burnout as a latent mediator, and mental health as dependent variable. Results: The structural analysis of the model showed a full mediating linkage of job burnout between independent and dependent Variable. It meant that there was no significant direct effect between self-esteem and mental health. Passing the most impression of self-esteem on mental health through job burnout was the most important finding of this research. There is some important implication about how negative self-esteem affects mental health through latent structure of burnout that would be paid attention in the paper
