Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was providing a structural model for family sublimation based on direct effects of religious orientation and personality on family sublimation and indirect effects of these factors on family sublimation regarding the mediator role of life style, psychological wellbeing and marital performance.
Methods: Statistical population was families of Isfahan in 2012 that have a child at least and participants were 360 people (180 couples) those selected by cluster sampling. The research method was correlational and structural equation modeling. The research tools were demographic questionnaire, family efficiency in view of Islam questionnaire, religion orientation questionnaire, The NEO Five-Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI), lifestyle questionnaire (LSQ), Ryff's Scale of Psychological Well-Being (RPWB) and Marriage Functioning Assessment Inventory (MFAI).
Findings: Results showed that religious orientation had direct and indirect effects on family sublimation with mediator role of life style and psychological wellbeing. Religious orientation and general factor of personality had impact on family sublimation together. Also, Religious orientation general factor of personality had direct and indirect impact on family sublimation regarding the mediator role of life style and psychological wellbeing. Hence, developed model of predicting family sublimation based on religious orientation, general factor of personality, life style and psychological wellbeing was confirmed and religious orientation was pivotal.
Conclusion: The findings of this study are useful to family therapists in providing of educational content and necessary skills for student of related courses and it’s suggested that religious beliefs and orientations addressed in this areas. Also, it’s suggested to therapists and counselors of family that consider the religious context as a basic variable in formulation of treatment or manipulation in family performance and sublimation.
