Abstract
Purpose:The purpose of this research was to test a predictive model for marital satisfaction based on sexual intimacy and communication factors, by applying structural equation modeling techniques. Methods: The sample included 266 people (125 male, 141 female) who were the parents of students in elementary and secondary schools in Kermanshah in 2011. the Dyadic Adjustment Scale (Aspaynr, 1976) and the ENRICH Inventory (Olsen et al, 1987) were used for data collection.
Results:Data analysis by structural equation modeling indicated that both factors (communication and intimacy) have direct and significant affects on marital satisfaction. Results showed that sexual intimacy had a significant mediating effect on the relationship between communication and marital satisfaction.
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that couples’ communication skills as direct cause of their marital satisfaction, but through their fluency of intimacy is justified. Family course lorscant each communication skills and sexual intimacy can target their interventions.
