The Role of Family Functioning (Based on McMaster's Model) in Predicting Attitudes of Intimacy & Marriage Compatibility in Families of Qazvin City

Abstract

Purpose: The family function is established on Systematic approach based on the structure, organization and exchange patterns among family members, especially between spouses. Healthy in its various dimensions led to the development of compatibility & intimacy between couples. This research is investigating of family functioning (Based on the McMaster model) in predicting couples compatibility & attitudes toward intimacy of families in Qazvin City.
Methods: The research method is correctional. Participants were Fifty three couples (106 people) that were selected through a convenience method from different areas of the Qazvin city due to requiring the participation of couples in research. The participants answered three questionnaires such as Family Assessment Device, marriage compatibility & Attitudes of Intimacy scale. Data were analyzed by Pearson correlation & Multivariate regression analysis.
Findings: This study found that there is significant correlation between Family Functioning, marriage Compatibility & Attitudes of Intimacy in couples (P<0/001). Regression analyses revealed that Family Functioning can respectively predict marriage Compatibility & Attitudes of Intimacy in couples with 0/46 & 0/25.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that improving family functioning correlates with increasing agreement, compatibility & intimacy between spouses.
