Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this research was to study the effect of transactional analysis training (TA) on the marital burnout and the quality of couple’s life.
Method: The present research was experimental using pre-posttest follow up and control group. The sample consists of couples with familiar problems that have referred to counseling centers in Bushehr state in 1390 and among them 20 couples were selected who had scored one standard deviation below the mean in the marital burnout and quality of life testing. Then they were randomly divided into two groups as experiment and control. Experimental group was included in 8 sessions of training transactional analysis including a 90 minute session per week but the control group did not receive any intervention. A week after the end of intervention, post-test was performed in the studied variables and after one month the follow-up test. In order to analyze the resulted data, MONCOVA analyzing method is used along with SPSS16.
Findings: The acquired results revealed that there was a significant difference between two groups (P<0/001). In addition, these results have been consistent in follow up period (P<0/001).
Conclusion: The transactional analysis training intervention was reduced marital burnout and increases the quality of couple’s life.
