A Study of the Relationship of Gender Ideology, Marital Roles, Emotional Intelligence with Quality of Life in the Married Employees of Government Offices in Shiraz

Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship among gender ideologies, marital roles, emotional intelligence and quality of life among married employees in Shiraz offices. Method: 250 married employees (125 males and 125 females) from Shiraz public offices were selected randomly using the stratified sampling method, and completed Gender Roles Ideology, Marital Roles, Emotional Intelligence, and quality of life scales. The psychometric properties of used instruments were satisfactory. Findings: Results showed positive correlations of gender ideologies, marital roles, and emotional intelligence variables with quality of life of 0.32 to.052. The results of regression analysis using enter and stepwise also indicated that marital roles, and emotional intelligence can predict of variance life of quality (criterion variable), while the one other variable did not has any contribution in prediction of criterion variable. Discussion: In present study, we can infer that gender ideologies and emotional intelligence have not role in develop of life of quality, and marital roles alone has importance effect in individuals understanding of life situation.
