Abstract
Family is an inherent social system. In this system, people are connected through strong, stable, and mutual emotional interests and attachments, but there is a possibility that these interests and attachments will decrease over time. The present study was conducted to predict Marital heartbreak based on attachment styles with the mediation of anger. This research was applied in terms of purpose and correlation method. The studied population included all the married teachers of Borujerd City in 2022, out of which 256 people were selected by the available sampling method. To collect data, questionnaires of adult attachment styles(Read & Collins, 1990 quoted by Pakdaman, 2001), Pains' marital despondency (Pains, 1996), and Spielberger's anger (Spielberger, 1999) were used. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with a covariance approach. The results showed that attachment styles (B=0.353; p=0.000) and anger have a direct, positive, and significant effect (B=0.248; p=0.000) on Marital heartbreak. Analysis of the mediator variable using the bootstrap method also showed that the indirect effect of anger in the relationship between attachment styles and Marital heartbreak is significant (B=0.208, p=0.010), meaning that the mediator role of anger in the relationship between the mentioned variables is confirmed. The goodness of fit indices also supported the good fit of the model to the collected data (2.df=2.32; GFI=0.94; CFI=0.91; AGFI=0.88; RMSEA=0.093). According to the findings of this study, it can be said that anger has a partial mediating role in the relationship between attachment styles and Marital heartbreak.
