Abstract

Communication is essential for all families and since TV audiences are mostly families, the media can play an effective role. Therefore, the present study was conducted to investigate the pathology of home show network series on the family based on a systemic view.  The method of this research was content analysis. For this purpose, out of ten home show series between 2017 and 2020, five series were selected: "Dell, Mankan, Asheghaneha, Mamnooe and Kargadan by purposive sampling method. Marital infidelity, violence, triangular love, aristocratic life, secrecy and lies, the mechanism of solving personal and family problems, and the criteria for choosing people to marry are analyzed in these series. The instrument of this research was collected by observing the content of the series by experts in the fields of sociology, clinical psychology, and clinical psychology (Family approach) to record the mentioned cases. In the present analysis, the difference between the number of observed concepts and the expected frequency was investigated by the chi-square test. The results showed that there was no significant difference between the expected frequency and the observed frequency (p> 0.05). In other words, the research findings showed that in these series, we see the abundance of marital infidelity, violence, triangular love, aristocratic life, secrecy and lies, negative methods of solving personal and family problems, and not choosing the appropriate criteria for people to marry each other. To study the effect of these concepts in promoting the mental health of the Iranian family, it is necessary to evaluate what changes these series make in the lifestyle of the Iranian family, according to the script and the internal discourse of the films.
