Introduction

Family is viewed as the first, most important and most special social institution in the history of human's culture and civilization. Family is a center that must be strengthened and solidified to maintain human dignity and privacy and to meet his physical, mental and spiritual development and perfection. Family cohesion is an undeniable necessity to preserve the cohesion of the society and to provide a healthy environment for human life and perfection (Olia Zadeh & Raeisi, 2017).  Marriage is one of the most important interpersonal relationships based on which a man and a woman seek to live together as a couple based on a legal, religious and moral principles while striving to achieve a stable life and experience satisfaction during their lives (Kianipour & Aminiha, 2020).

The quality of marital life has been regarded as a function of a marriage success, and this dimension is currently regarded to be one of the most important predictors for the continuity and stability of marital relationships (Barzegar & Samani, 2016). Studying couple relationships helps structural frameworks to be formed. The quality of marital relationships has a basic role in assessing the overall quality of family relationships as it is a multidimensional concept involving various marital relationship dimensions such as adjustment, satisfaction, happiness, cohesion and commitment (Drakhshan, 2019). Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the dimensions of quality of marital life and the factors affecting it in a meta-composite way and can lead to a deep understanding of quality of life. It can also serve to complement existing theories in this field.

Methodology

The present research was performed with a qualitative approach and via document analysis method using meta-composite method. Meta-composite approach requires the researcher to conduct a thorough and in-depth review and combine the findings of related qualitative research. By investigating the findings of the main research articles, researchers have revealed and created terminologies that suggest a more comprehensive representation of the phenomenon under study (Zimmer, 2006). To investigate the objective of this article, researchers have reviewed previous researches in the area of quality of life in Iran and thus, a seven-step method has been suggested by Sandelowski & Barros (2007) as follows:

Step 1: Research question

Step 2: Systematic review of the background

Step 3: Search and selection of appropriate texts

Step 4: Extraction of textual information

Step 5: Analysis and combination of qualitative findings

Step 6: Quality Control

Step 7: Findings

Conclusion

This study aimed at determining the components of quality of life and of marriage via meta-composite method. The findings demonstrated that individual, interpersonal, environmental, economic, cultural-social, spiritual-religious, emotional, health - physical, psychological and familial components contribute to the quality of life, marriage, as each of these components involve several concepts that can be recognized to provide a comprehensive understanding to improve the life of couples and to provide a healthy life. Negative interactions between couples have been found to increase the likelihood of divorce by reducing the positive aspects of marriage such as satisfaction, commitment and trust in the relationship (Saeedpoor, Asghari & Sayadi, 2018). Therefore, the strength of the family foundation and the quality of life among couples are always taken into account and the health of society relies on the stability of the family. As a result, the present study was done to determine the role of combining studies on the components of quality of life and marriage of couples. According to the results, one can suggest that several factors are effective in the quality of marital life. Identifying each of these factors plays a role in health and quality of life for an appropriate planning while providing health for the family and the community as a whole.
