Prediction of Marital Burnout Based on Differentiation of self and Communication Beliefs with mediation Role of Emotional Regulation in Female Applicants for Divorce

Abstract

Marital relationships and their effective factors play an important role in the satisfaction of couples from their common life and their marriages. Therefore, prediction of marital burnout based on differentiation of self and communication beliefs with mediation role of emotional regulation in female applicants for divorce in Kermanshah. The statistical population of this study included all women applying for divorce in Kermanshah city court in Question 2019 out of which 200 selected as available sample. Data collection tools in this study were differentiation of self  Inventory (Skowron & Friedlander, 1998), Marital burnout questionnaire (Pines & Nunes, 2003), Emotional regulation (Garnefski, Kraaij & Spinhoven, 2001), and Communication beliefs questionnaire (Eidelson & Epstein, 1982). To analyze the data, a path analysis statistical method used to determine the causal relationships between the variables. The results showed that communication skills and differentiation of self were significantly able to predict marital distress. Positive and negative emotions were also significantly able to predict marital distress. The results of path analysis also showed that positive and negative emotions play a partial mediating role in the relationship between differentiation of self   and communication skills with marital distress. In other words, the mediating role of positive and negative emotions was confirmed. The results showed that appears to cut the marriage is a complex phenomenon that also affects many couples, many factors, including differentiation of self, beliefs, communication, and emotion regulation is affected. Therefore, it is necessary to pay special attention to differentiation of self, communication beliefs, and emotional regulation in family therapy and family education interventions.
