Abstract

Purpose: In each society, members motivations for marring , explained by extended tendency to marriage. Motivation is an inner process which reinforces and leads behavior and a common field of needs, recognitions and emotions. This study focused on factors that motivated persons for marriage and aimed to asses three main questions: How much is the engaged motivation for marriage? Are there different dimensions for it? What is the status of emotional motivation in getting   married?
Methods: The method of research was survey and Statistical population were engaged persons referred to health center in Hamadan city. 156 participants (Age M=23) with Convenience sampling were selected as subjects. A researcher made scale (with Cranach’s  reliability coefficient​=0.87) used for asses the motives.
Findings: Findings showed subjects (%80) had moderate average of motivation. There were significant differences in importance (priority) between terms of scale and gender, age, education. Factor analysis contained components: negative, emotional, psychological, biological, social, and non-reason.
Conclusion: In general conclusion: though persons have high degree of motivations to get married but in quality dimension, dominant of negative and emotional factors can be noticeable to researchers and psychologists in domain of marriage and family.
