Investigating of Effectiveness of Life Skills Training on Marital Satisfaction

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between the morality and personal values of Couples and their marital satisfaction in city of Moghan.
Methods: In this study 125 couples (with one partner occupied as public school teacher in the city of Moghan) were selected by cluster random sampling and administered with the Enrich marital satisfaction, Moral foundations questionnaire and Schwartz’s values scale. Findings: Data was analyzed with statistical methods (Pearson correlation, t-test and stepwise regression).
Findings: The results showed that there was a significant positive relationship between morality and personal values (except hedonistic/pleasure oriented values). Also the results showed that in the moral dimensions (fairness and care/harm), there was a significant difference between men and women Also there was significant difference between men and women in marital satisfaction. The moral foundations were positively associated to all personal values except of the hedonistic/pleasure oriented values.Women and men showed significant differences in their value priorities of conformity, universalism and security.
Conclusion: In the traditional religious context of the Moghan region of Iran for middle class niveau couples with  teacher status, sexes seem to  differ in their moral and values priorities.  The paper discusses the relationships between the variables for men and women and their role in the marital satisfaction in regard to this specific cultural context.
