Data were collected using Differentiation of Self Inventory (DSI), Test of Self Conscious Affect (TOSCA-2), and Marital Commitment Questionnaire (MCQ). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and Enter and Stepwise multiple regression analysis.
Findings: Results showed that self-differentiation has a positive significant relationship with marital commitment (p<0/01), shame has a negative significant relationship with marital commitment (p<0/01) and these two variables was significantly predictive 36 percent of the variance of marital commitment. Also results showed that there is not a significant relationship between guilt and marital commitment and wasn’t significantly predictive of marital commitment.
Conclusion: So, it can be concluded that individuals with higher levels of self-differentiation and low levels of shame could experience more level of marital commitment.
