Purpose: The present study aims to consider the relationship between couple burnout, sexual assertiveness, and sexual dysfunctional beliefs in women.
Methods: This correlation study has been selected 200 married women in Tehran via Cluster multistage sampling method . The tools used in this study include couple burnout measure, Holbert Index of Sexual Assertiveness, and Sexual Dysfunctional Beliefs Questioner. Data has been analyzed by means of descriptive statistics including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation and deferential statistics including Pearson coefficient of correlation, multi variable regression, and multi variable analysis of variance.
Findings: According to the findings, there is a meaningful relationship between couple burnout, sexual assertiveness, and sexual dysfunctional beliefs in married women. The results of regression analysis show that couple burnout can be determined in accordance with the factors related to sexual dysfunctional beliefs among them sexual conservatism and body self-concept are more effective. The results also indicate that the most influential factor in reducing sexual assertiveness in married women is sexual conservatism.
Conclusion: Considering the results of the present study, women’s knowledge and beliefs about their sexuality have a great role in couple burnout that is the more their beliefs are negative, the more is their couple burnout. This, in turn, can have a negative impact on sexual assertiveness of married women. Due to significant effect of sexual beliefs in couple life, it is suggested to teach young couples ,at pre-marriage classes, how much these beliefs are significant in marriage and sexual satisfaction.
