The effectiveness of group Logo therapy on marital satisfaction and psychological well-being of maladjusted couples

Abstract

Logo therapy is a branch of existential psychotherapy which its practice has a worthwhile effect on life crisis stages of clients. The current study carried out with the aim of make obvious the effectiveness of group logo therapy on marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing of maladjusted couples. The research method was quasi experimental by using pretest-posttest with control group. The statistical population consisted of all maladjusted couples referred to counseling centers of welfare office of Ardabil, in 2015. The study sample consisted of 36 maladjusted couple that selected through convenient sampling, and assigned randomly to experimental and control groups. Subjects of Experimental group participated in 10 sessions of intervention of group logo therapy and control group did not receive any intervention. The data were gathered using Spanier' Dyadic Adjustment scale, Enrich' marital satisfaction and Riff psychological wellbeing. The results of the analysis of multivariate covariance showed that there are significant differences between the experimental and control groups in posttest in marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing. The mean scores of marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing in the experimental group was significantly more than those were in the control group. The findings of the study indicated that the participation of maladjusted couples in the group of logo therapy sessions increases their marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing.
